  1. I agree with above content. the MBTI is a self-report instrument. Essential part of coaching using the MBTI is to explore the tool with the client and perform an immediate self assessment before giving the client the report. This allows the client to verify the reported results and thereby gain confidence in their own expertise about their preferences (Kay, 2015).

  2. Personality testing is only useful to a certain extent. Some people are a mixture of different personalities. Treating them as a member of the type indicated in the exam is not fair to them. Personality testing can give you a good evaluation, but it is not your final judgment of the ability of potential employees. MBTI to be a very useful tool but most important thing is to remember that even the most useful map will not be the identical thing as the territory!(Boyle and John 1985).

  3. Well said, the MBTI test is only an estimate and not 100% accurate. However, since its prepared based on our response, it will show the psychological report after an assessment (Sample, 2017)

  4. In addition to your points on ISFJ personality, I would also like to add that ISFJs often struggle to express their own feelings and often bottle them up, resulting in having negative feelings towards others (Cherry, 2019). When going through hardship, they may remain quiet in hopes of not burdening others with their troubles (Cherry, 2019).

  5. While agreeing to your comments, I would like to highlight two underused areas of MBTI theory. Many MBTI professionals are limited to operating at the level of individual chosen pairs of clients. While this has some merit, experience shows that any style application will be greatly enhanced by integrating the following two advanced aspects of form theory: First, the dynamic relationship between the elements of the type (type dynamics) of the individual; and second, the growth of the type over the lifetime of the individual (Passmore, 2008).

  7. According to psychologists and psychometricians, criticize the MBTI highlighting its popularity is due to the aggressive marketing by CPP. MBTI criticized by academic researchers Based on the research started in 1970’s (review by David Pittenger in Consulting Psychology Journal: Practice and Research, 2005).

  9. It is also risky to use MBTI as a recruitment tool because candidates will react as someone more likely to get the job rather than speak for themselves in order to get work (Harvard, 2013)

    1. Agreed.Organization should not totally depend on this. But this can be used as additional assessment tool along with other formal recruitment methods.

  10. Useful information, thank you for sharing! Myersbriggs (2019) (the organisation who is the official publisher of the test) warns of the ethical concerns of using the test for hiring purposes.
